הם באים! הם זוחלים לרכבינו, משתלטים על שדה הראייה של ילדינו, כן זוהי פלישה של ממש! לאלו מכם שאינם הורים, אני מדברת כמובן על דובוני המראה שהופיעו (באדיבות שילב) על משענת הראש בכל רכב בו נוסעים הקטנטנים.
הדובונים מנסים לתקשר עם הילדים המשועממים במושב האחורי, אבל הילדה שלי לא תגדל על ברכי הדוב המסחרי!
אני רוצה לעשות משהו מקורי ואישי.

It’s an invasion! They crawl into our cars, taking over our children’s field of view, a true epidemic. For those of you who aren’t parents, I am referring to the mirror-teddies that recently appeared on the headrest of any car used to chauffeur the little ones. These teddies try to communicate with the bored babies in the back sit, but this won’t do for my girl. I want something original and personal.
זה לא סוד שכדי להיות אמא (וגם אבא) צריכים לפתח יכולת לעשות כמה דברים במקביל, ולנשים יש בזה יתרון אבולוציוני מסויים. אני מאמינה שבטיחות זה הדבר הכי חשוב ומכאן ההתעקשות שלי להכניס את כיסא התינוק כנגד כיוון התנועה במושב האחורי, למרות שאין לי אפשרות לראות אותה באופן ישיר. עדיף שתבכה, אבל ידיים לא מורידים מההגה והעיניים תמיד קדימה. וכאן נכנסת לתמונה המראה שמאפשרת לך לראות את הילד במראה האחורית.

It’s no secret that being a mom (or dad) means you got to do many things simultaneously and woman have a slight evolutionary advantage in this regard. Still, I believe safety comes first! Therefore, I always put the baby seat inverted and in the back seat, even though I can’t look at her directly. Even if she cries, my hands don’t leave the wheel and my eyes are glued to the road. Thus, the idea of a mirror that lets me see at her in the car back mirror sounds great.
כבר לפני המון זמן קניתי (לא ברור למה) מראה גמישה דביקה. למרות שבסוף היא הוחלפה, היא היתה הטריגר שהתחיל את הפרוייקט הזה, כי הייתי חייבת להשתמש בה כבר (או לזרוק אותה). חיפשתי בסיס שאליו אני אוכל להדביק את המראה, והוא נמצא - תמיד אהבתי קופסאות פח.

I've bought a flexible sticky mirror a while ago, and although it ended up on the scrap heap it was this mirror that gave me the inspiration for this project. I just had to use it (or throw it away). I looked for a base to glue the mirror to, and finally chose my favorite- a tin lid from a cookie box. Always had a soft spot for tin boxes.
יצרתי "סנדוויץ" עגול - הדבקתי מראה על המכסה ומצד שני הדבקתי 2 שכבות של ספוג (התברר שספוג הכי טוב להדביק עם דבק מגע).

I've made a round “Sandwich” by gluing the mirror on one side of the lid and gluing 2 sponge layers on the other side (turn out it’s best to glue sponge using contact glue). Next, I started knitting…First knit a circle than fold it towards the center so that you get a cover for the round base. 
מכאן עברתי למלאכת סריגה.... מתחילים בסריגת עיגול ואז מקפלים כלפי פנים. בקיצור, סרגתי כיסוי לבסיס.
היתה התלבטות רבה בין צפרדע, שמש או פרח.ההחלטה נפלה על שמש.,כך שאוכל לראות את מאור חיי כרגע דרך שמש זוהרת :) סרגתי קונוסים קטנים וחיברתי אותם בתפירה.

The choice was tough –a frog? a flower? the Sun? Sun it is. I want to see my little sunshine through a sun framed looking glass. I knitted small cones and sewed them on the cover.
מאחורי השמש חיברתי 2 רצועות לרוחב ולאורך (מתברר שרצועה אחת לא נותנת מספיק אפשרויות כיוונון). אחת מהן עשויה מגומיה רחבה (גומיה שנתנו לי לבדיקות מוניטור) ועוד רצועה עם קליפס...
בסופו של דבר אחרי בדיקת פונקיציונליות המראה הדביקה לא עמדה במבחן (היו בא בועות שעיוותו את הילדה לחלוטין), ולכן הוצאה והוחלפה במראה פלסטית אחרת קשיחה יותר וישרה אותה מצאתי בחנות אקוורל (בגודל A4 ) שממנה חתכתי עיגול.

On the backside I connected 2 strips – one horizontal and one vertical (turns out one strip is not enough to adjust the mirror). One strip was a broad rubber band (used for the baby monitor during pregnancy) while the other had a clip. Eventually, the sticky mirror did not live up to the expectations (distorted the image), so it was replaced with a harder plastic mirror bought in Aquarelle (A4 size mirror, I cut a circle out of it).
התוצאה לשיפוטכם. עכשיו יש לנו אפשרות לראות מה שלום הילדה בשניה דרך המראה הקדמית, בלי להסתכן. אל תדאגו, אני מסתכלת רק ברמזורים- כי באמת קשה להוריד ממנה את העיניים :)

Here the result- you be the judge. Now we can see how baby girl is doing in our back mirror. Don’t worry- I only sneak a peek at the traffic stops- I’ve found out It’s really hard to take my eyes off her J
